SERVICE AND REPAIR OF MICROSCOPES

"Quality can not be compromised upon if you require excellence"

Service

Since 1940, Mel Sobel Microscopes Ltd. has been servicing and repairing microscopes. We are an authorized repair center for many manufactures including the worlds’ largest microscope manufacturer, Leica Inc. We can service and repair almost any kind of microscope or parts (excluding electron) in-house.

We have factory-trained technicians who can restore mostly any microscope to original factory condition. Our technicians carefully calibrate, test, and inspect each microscope to insure maximum performance and proper resolving power. Our team always uses original factory parts if your product requires a repair. All items repaired are warranted for one year excluding bulbs.

The following always takes place on a typical service:

  • Disassemble microscope.
  • Clean, lubricate, and reset moving parts to factory specifications.
  • Remove, clean, check, and par-focal all optics.
  • Clean interior prisms and inspect for proper alignment.
  • Remove, clean, and align sub-stage condenser (if required).
  • Test and set electrical system to specifications.
  • Test focusing mechanisms.
  • Reassemble and individually test each microscope with a slide under all objectives.

NO CHARGE FOR EVALUATION FEE WITH REPAIR

Our fees vary depending upon the microscope and job required, but they are quite reasonable nonetheless! Due to the difficulty in evaluating a microscope without seeing and evaluating it firsthand, we require you to send your microscope to our facility. Our technicians will do a complete evaluation and advise you of the repair costs; you are under no obligation to repair your equipment.

In order to do a proper evaluation, microscopes & parts must be dissembled and evaluated by a repair technician. There is a $25 evaluation for each monocular microscope and a $50 fee for each binocular microscope. Small non-optical parts such as mechanical stages require a $25 evaluation fee, all optical components such as objectives, condensers and binocular bodies require a $50 evaluation fee. All evaluation fees will be waived & deducted off the repair estimate should you decide to have your item repaired. Return shipping, handling, and insurance is $8.50 for small parts such as objectives and small components, $19.95 for each monocular microscope and $35 for each binocular or trinocular microscope within the mainland forty-eight states. Specialty microscopes may incur higher evaluation and shipping charges.

Feel free to email us with any questions.
