Mel Sobel Microscopes Ltd. has been renting microscopes to medical students for over 40 years. We ship our rentals to students and schools worldwide. We offer top quality microscopes with carrying cases at very reasonable prices. We process and ship out rentals usually within twenty-four hours. Mel Sobel guarantees all rentals for the duration of the rental period. We require a major creditcard to process the transaction online, by fax, or by telephone (1-888-ALL-SCOPES).
If you recommend our rental program and get it implemented in your medical school we will give you a FREE RENTAL MICROSCOPE for one year. This offer applies to one student per medical school (requires a minimum of ten rentals). We can work through student affairs organizations, bookstores, department heads, or any other recognized campus organization. We also have programs to re-sell microscopes.
We rent binocular, trinocular, and phase-contrast microscopes. The binocular microscopes will meet medical school requirements. The rental rates listed below apply to medical students only! Other rates apply for non-student use.
Each binocular microscope that you rent will contain the following specifications:
- Binocular head: forty-five degree incline, rotates 360 degrees w/diopter adjustments
- Eyepieces: widefield 10x (with pointer if requested)
- Objectives: DIN 4x, 10x, 40x(retractable), 100x(retractable) oil objective
- Platform: large stage platform
- Mechanical stage: graduated with low position controls
- Substage: parcentered two lens Abbe condenser w/filter holder and blue filter
- Focusing mechanism: coaxial coarse and fine adjustment in low set position
- Illumination system: 20w halogen w/variable intensity
- Accessories: spare bulb, oil immersion, lens cleaner, lens tissue
- Carrying Case: fitted nylon case for microscope and all accessories
- Brands can not be specified. We guarantee all microscopes for the entire rental period.
Trinocular microscopes have the same specifications as above, except with a photo or a video option.
Phase microscopes have phase turrets with 10x, 20x, 40x, 100x phase plan objectives; they can also be used in brightfield.
We require the following:
Insurance is required on all microscope rentals. If your homeowner’s policy or any other insurance covers your microscope rental send or fax us a copy of your binder along with the value listed on the policy. If you have no covered insurance a policy must be purchased thru us when the microscope is rented. Insurance rates listed are for rental periods up to and including one year.
A $35 shipping, handling, and insurance fee within the USA. Other rates apply out of US.
A guarantee on the microscope (your credit card) for duration of lease.
Return shipping charges including insurance is the responsibility of the lessee. Please keep your original shipping package for your microscope return.
Microscopes are NOT to be used for profit, or in a clinical or commercial, environmental. Other rates apply for non-students use.
By accepting the microscope and items on Schedule "A", the Lessee agrees to the following terms & conditions.
This microscope rental is made effective on_________________________________________. It is between MEL SOBEL MICROSCOPES Ltd. (the "Lessor") and __________________________________________________________________(the "Lessee").
EQUIPMENT SUBJECT TO LEASE. See Schedule "A" for itemized listing.
FEES. Rental fees are $199.00 ( one hundred and ninety nine dollars) per year, $150.00 (one hundred fifty dollars) for six months, or $50.00 (fifty dollars), per month, FOB Hicksville NY. 11801
SECURITY DEPOSIT. A refundable $200.00 (two hundred dollars) security deposit (for binocular microscopes) shall be left on the effective date of the agreement. It shall be returned when the equipment is returned by the Lessee, and inspected by the Lessor and deemed to be in the same condition as it was given, less normal wear and tear. The Lessee agrees to forfeit all or part of the security deposit if the lessor deems the microscope has been damaged, or if parts are missing or broken as a result of neglect or abuse.
RISK OF DAMAGE OR LOSS. The Lessee assumes all risks of loss and damage and agrees to return it in the condition received from the lessor, except for normal wear and tear.
LEASE TERM. This Lease begins on the above date for an initial term of ___month(s) and shall terminate on ____________________________. It may be extended for an additional year at the rate of $179.00 (one hundred seventy nine dollars), six months for $125.00 (one hundred twenty five dollars), or by the month at $50 (fifty dollars), providing that written notice is given by the Lessee to the Lessor at least two weeks prior to the termination date of the lease.
MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR. The Lessor guarantees the microscope to be in proper working condition during the lease period and will repair or supply another microscope if deemed necessary by the Lessor.
RETURN OF THE EQUIPMENT. At the end of the Lease term, the Lessee shall be obligated to return the microscope and other equipment, to the Lessor at the Lessee's expense.
ACCEPTANCE OF EQUIPMENT. The Lessee shall inspect the microscope and other items delivered. The Lessee shall immediately notify the Lessor of any problems. If the Lessee fails to provide such notice within 48 hours of receipt, the Lessee agrees to have accepted the microscope and other equipment in working condition.
OWNERSHIP AND STATUS. The microscope and other equipment remains the property of the Lessor. The Lessor may transfer the title to the Lessee via a sale.
TRANSFER OF TITLE. If the Lessee fails to return the microscope and equipment within 14 days of the terminating date without notice of an extension, it is understood that the Lessee agrees to keep and purchase via a sale, the microscope and equipment listed on "Schedule A" for an additional $____________(________________________________) and authorizes the Lessor to charge their Visa( or Mastercard( #______________________________________ for the total amount of the sale.
LIABILITY AND INDEMNITY. Liability for injury, disability caused by operating, handling, or transporting the equipment during the term of this Lease is the obligation of the Lessee, and the Lessee shall indemnify and hold the Lessor harmless from and against all such liability.
OPTIONAL INSURANCE. The Lessee may take out optional insurance against theft from the Lessor. The amount of this shall be $50 (fifty dollars), per year. The Lessee shall assume no liability as a result of theft other then loss of the securtiy deposit . The Lessee must provide the Lessor with an official police report within 48 hours of the theft occurrence, in order for the insurance to be valid and in effect. All other items and conditions of this Lease remain in effect if a claim is filed.
NOTICE. All notices required or permitted under this Lease shall be deemed delivered when delivered in person or by mail, postage prepaid, addressed to the appropriate party at the address shown for that party in this lease.
ENTIRE AGREEMENT AND MODIFICATION. This Lease constitutes the entire agreement between the parties. No modification or amendment of this Lease shall be effective unless in writing and signed by both parties. This Lease replaces any and all prior agreements between the parties.
GOVERNING LAW. This Lease shall be construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York.
SEVERABILITY. If any portion of this Lease shall be held to be invalid or unenforceable for any reason, the remaining provisions shall continue to be valid and enforceable. If a court finds that any provision of this Lease is invalid or unenforceable, but that by limiting such provision, it would become valid and enforceable, then such provision shall be deemed to be written, construed, and enforced as so limited.
WAVIER. The failure of either party to enforce any provision of this Lease shall not be construed as a wavier or limitation of that party's right to subsequently enforce and compel strict compliance with every provision of this Lease.
